Finally Spring has sprung

Today was a really busy day. It is Easter week and the sun is shining and the weather was finally inching towards 60 degrees. I love kids and weddings. Today I got to do an East Indian Baraat service. This is where I dress up in an authentic costume and take the groom to be married.

Today was really special because we were at the Ritz Carlton hotel which is on Broad Street tne main street in the Center of town. Just as we were starting ( right after the groom got off to go get married) our brand new Double decker Bus cme driving by and all the people on the top deck starting cheering for the groom.

It was pretty awesome and I did look rather handsome in my costume.

Tomorrow come se us in all your easter finery and take a carriage ride.

Happy Spring,

Love

Snow and Sleet please GO AWAY

Today was a quick day. Even though we are days away from spring we had winter weather swirling all around us. First there was snow flurries, then sleet and rain.

We are all tucked up in our comfy stalls munching hay and eating our oats. Tomorrow is another day.

Future brides should come look me up at the Talamor Country Club where Mike and I will have the Cinderella Carriage on display.  I just love doing weddings and ocasionally I get to snack on the bouquet.

Spring is the time for school groups

Spring is just around the corner and today we started the first of many school group tours. Travelling Classrooms brings us middle schools from around the country to tour Philadelphia during their class trips.

Today we had 221 students from the lake school on their 8th grade trip. I love the kids because they always want to pet me and take our 20 minute tour.  This tour takes you around the nation's most historic square mile and lets you learn about the founding of our country. We start the tour right next to Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell. Once I got to take George Washington on a ride horse back style.

Stop by and see me for a fun family ride.

PS I love carrots and chocolate chip cookies.

Birthdays and Helping Out

Today was a big day. The big boss celebrated his birthday and we gave him a surprise party.  Hard to believe he was celebrating a milestone year. All the king's horses and all the king's men rallied to give him a big surprise. We bought his favorite treats, gag gifts  and silly decorations then called him down for the big surprise.
Then after the funny gifts we gave him an exact miniature antique hearse that matches the real one that my partner dick and I pull for funerals. We were lucky and got to eat some of the fruit and mints from the party.

Happy Birthday Mike!

Love Teddy and the rest of the barn gang!

barn cats and dogs

Here at the barn we have 3 barn cats, Tori and Toby who are brother and sister and Dude. Tori and Toby came as kittens to the barn 3 summers ago from Saul agricultural high school. They were the final kittens from a litter who lived in the cow barn.

They came as little kittens and were soon adopted by the late great "Rinny" our barn dog as his kids. Rinny would carry them in his mouth or they would ride on his back to learn the way of life around the horses. They would all sleep together in Rinny's dog stall.

As they grew up they learned to climb and they love to hang out in the hay loft.

Dude was found wandering the streets at our Philadelphia Trolley Works garage. He was abandoned , skinny and hungry. He would eat the food left out for him but he really wanted a home. We brought him to the barn via the vet to be checked out. Poor Dude whoever owned him before he was abandoned removed both his front and rear claws which makes it hard to be a cat.
Dude is our office cat and when the weather's nice he goes outside and sits under the bench to people watch.

Luther is our new barn dog and he now watches over the cats and the horses. He even has a barn style dog house but mostly he runs around playing with everyone.

When you stop by the barn you can usually find the cats and Luther hanging out to greet you.

Stop by and visit

Off to roll in the yard

ST Patrick's Day fun

Today is the ST Patrick's Day Parade. I wish I was pulling the green carriage because it sure is popular. Hawk and Charlie are getting all the action. My team mate Dick is at a bridal show at the Desmond Hotel. He is really popular along with our Cinderella Carriage. Here I am doing a wedding last year in our formal black and white carriage. Gotta run some people dressed in green want a ride.

Spring is Just Around the Corner and we're ready to clip clop around town

Good Morning Sunshine!!!

Today my herdmates awoke to the bright sunshine of SPRING. We areeready to shed our winter coats and take you on a carriage ride through America's most historic square mile.

We've spent the winter at our turnout farm and at our barn. The humans have been scrubbing and panting and gussying up the carriages. Kim has been clipping our legs and shaggy manes to make us look awesome for our spring debut.

Look for us at 5th & Chestnut Streets for a carriage ride around the historic area.

Check back often and we will tell you the tales from the hoof.

Off to eat some Hay.............
